Caregiver Pathways to Canada

Care for Canadian children, seniors, or people with disabilities — and build a long-term path to staying in Canada.

Where things stand right now

Canada's dedicated federal caregiver pilots have historically offered caregivers a route to permanent residence. As of now, the federal caregiver PR pilots are closed to new applications, and IRCC has signalled that a redesigned caregiver pathway is under development. That means the specific program, eligibility rules, and timing are in flux — and anyone planning a caregiver move to Canada should plan around what's actually available today, while positioning for the next pathway when it opens.

This is exactly where good advice matters. We track the caregiver landscape closely, so you don't build a plan around a program that isn't accepting applications.

Your Options

What caregivers can do right now

Even with the federal caregiver PR pilots paused, there are real, active routes for caregivers and their families:

  • Employer-supported work permits. A genuine, full-time job offer from a Canadian family or agency, supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), remains one of the strongest ways to come and work in Canada as a caregiver.
  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Several provinces run streams that target caregiving and home-support occupations, some of which can lead to permanent residence. Which province fits depends on your occupation, experience, and ties.
  • Express Entry, where eligible. Some caregivers qualify through the broader economic streams, especially after gaining Canadian work experience.
  • Maintaining status and building experience. If you're already in Canada, keeping valid status and accumulating documented caregiving experience keeps your options open for whatever pathway opens next.

Who these pathways suit

  • Experienced caregivers, nannies, and home-support workers with, or able to obtain, a genuine Canadian job offer
  • People already working in caregiving roles in Canada who want to move toward permanent residence
  • Families in Canada who need to hire a caregiver and want to do it compliantly

How We Help

How we help

  1. 1

    Assess your situation

We assess your situation — your experience, credentials, language, and any existing job offer — and map it against the pathways that are genuinely open today.

  2. 2

    Vet the job offer

We vet the job offer for compliance before you rely on it, which is where many caregiver files go wrong.

  3. 3

    Build a positioning plan

We build a positioning plan so that when IRCC opens the redesigned caregiver pathway, you're ready to move quickly rather than starting from scratch.

  4. 4

    Handle the paperwork

We handle the paperwork — work permits, PNP applications, PR applications, and the family members coming with you — as a single coherent file.
